Listening and seeing with the hands…

During treatments I practice and employ the art of the listening touch. As humans we are capable of great levels of connectivity and our bodies are constantly giving signals and showing evidence for the pain you are experiencing.

During treatment my fingers and sense of touch become my eyes to look for the source of your pain as well as identifying the ideal level of pressure you are comfortable with, for each specific area.

Saying Hello...

We begin each session with a short consultation which can be longer for the first treatment. During this consultation we will discuss the reasons you have come for a massage and what you desire to get out of or from the treatment both in the long and short term.

I have been trained in a number of massage techniques and modalities but you are the person that understands yourself the best. This is why we work together to create a treatment plan focused on your desired outcomes and avoiding any areas you are uncomfortable with.

Beginning and ending with a pause…

The first step is to get you, the client, comfortable on the table, suitably covered with towels and undressed underneath. During treatments you will be covered in towels and only the un-draped will be worked on at any time, NEVER a private area or areas that make you uncomfortable.

Once you are settled we begin with a moment of stillness. This is a beautiful beginning to each therapy session as well as being part of the treatment. It allows us both to come to the present moment and let the activity and the stress of the day be put on pause and sets the pace for the whole session. Allowing your body to begin to relax and get accustomed to the therapists hands as they are placed lightly on your body can increase the effect of the coming massage session

This is an equally great way to end a session, coming from the place of great relaxation and easing you back into the rest of your day.

The nuts and bolts…

You're on the table, draped with the towel and the stress of the day has been put aside, next…

We begin the session with some some rocking and acupressure over the towel, beginning to loosen and warm up your body, preparing you for the treatment ahead. After which we begin to use a combination of:

-Deep tissue massage
-Swedish massage
-Guided stretching techniques

We begin to work the body to achieve your desired outcomes of the treatment. This may mean working the whole body or focusing on specific areas such as the back, arms, legs, abdomen, etc..

We do this with massage strokes of the muscles using palms and forearms to work the general area first, then going deeper with palm or finger strokes to treat more specific areas. This will increase the blood flow around the treated area and relax the muscles, thereby assisting the healing and releasing of pain.
